Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Core Accounting & Month-End: Manage full-cycle core accounting, fixed assets, and month-end closing schedules.
• Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee complete statutory workflows (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and directly manage ERCA correspondence.
• Payroll & Commissions Processing: Execute corporate monthly payroll and calculate bi-weekly driver commission schedules.
• Digital Reconciliation & Controls: Conduct high-frequency transactional mapping across digital platforms and maintain audit-ready internal controls.
• Team Supervision & Oversight: Review junior accounting entries and journal vouchers before final escalation to the Finance Head.

Must Have

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years as a Senior Accountant, preferably in tech, e-commerce, or digital services.
• Auditing & Controls: Proven track record as an External Auditor or Senior General Accountant managing internal controls and ledgers.
• Tax Compliance: Comprehensive operational mastery of the Ethiopian tax regime and ERCA statutory submissions.
• Financial Execution: Extensive background independently handling full payroll processing and complete month-end closing procedures.

Nice to Have

o   ERP Systems Experience: Prior hands-on operational familiarity with Odoo ERP software modules and workflow mechanics.

o   E-Commerce Ecosystems: Experience navigating multi-merchant business platforms.

o   Cost Accounting Exposure: Background serving as a Cost Accountant or dealing with complex variable unit margins, driver payouts, and automated vendor payout formulas.

o   Stakeholder Communication: Exemplary collaborative capacity for interfacing directly with corporate banks, third-party technology merchants, operational managers, and regulatory officials.
